Kobayashi Academy - History

Situated north east of Tokyo city, the Kobayashi private school was first started in 1887 by founding fathers Hachiro Ito & Shin'ichi Sato, who were teachers from northern Japan. The school has survived the Imperial age, the 1923 earthquake and World War II, holding strong against anything that history has thrown at it, be it natural or man-made.

Since its founding, the school has gone on to be one of the best recognized private schools in Tokyo, welcoming students from other regions and even from other nations to its classrooms for over a century. Its top 10 students are usually assured an automatic spot at Tokyo University upon graduation, making it the best school for Tokyo University hopefuls.

Kobayashi offers its enrolled students the very best of educational facilities, from chemical and computer laboratories to an arts center and large astronomy telescope. The school's athletic programs are among the best in Tokyo, with Kobayashi offering many athletic scholarships for promising young students. Completed in 1997, the school now is home to a beautiful, modern dormitory on campus that borders the waterfront.
